SENIOR CLASSES FOR ADULTS 55 AND BETTER

In January 2009, Mele began teaching a 6-month 'Ukulele Beyond the Basics class "as an experiment" at Kaunoa Senior Center for adults 55 and better. Mele wanted to challenge retirees to expand their horizons, set higher expectations, and do more than they thought they were capable of doing. Thus, Mele developed a music education and 'ukulele curriculum to fulfil that need for adult lifelong learning. The experiment continues as Mele has expanded to teaching 'ukulele for different skill levels and musical interests, Hawaiian history, and sing-along classes in addition to leading student performing groups into the community.
