Ukulele Mele's first workshops Saturday at Hilo Hattie store on Oahu was a success! I gave a total of two workshops, one at 11:00 a.m. and one at 1:00 p.m. Fun was had by all. (Read more) (See photos)

November 6. Liberty Dialysis Clinic opening at the clinic, Kahului. 

"You folks sound so professional!" commented a woman who heard the Maui Ukulele Pops Band perform on Thursday. Eight Band members plus Rich and I played a variety of Hawaiian and local favorites with three hulas by one dancer for our 30-minute show. (Read more) (See photos)

November 8. Maui Ukulele Guild Exhibition at Queen Ka'ahumanu Center, Kahului.

Ten Maui Ukulele Pops Band members played a 30-minute set of the following Hawaiian and pop songs:

1. Maui - Hum Ding-Ah Strum, 2 chords.
2. All I Have to Do is Dream - Morse Code Strum, 7 chords.
3. Henehene Kou Aka - I Wanna Rest Strum, 8 chords.
4. Maui Waltz - 2 Waltz Strums, 4 chords.
5. Under the Boardwalk - Latin Strum, 7 chords.
6. On the Beach at Waikiki - Hum Ding-Ah Strum, 7 chords.
7. Girl From Ipanema - Bossa Nova Strum, 11 chords.
8. Proud Mary - Tom Tom Strum, 6 chords.
9. This Land is Your Land - Hum Ding-Ah Strum, 5 chords.
10. Sophisticated Hula - Boom Shaka I Wanna Strum, 12 chords.

The Maui Ukulele Jazz Trio debut a new member, Cindee Burkitt, and played a 30-minute set of the following songs with difficult chords and syncopated rhythms:

1. Uwehi Ami and Slide - 4 chords with instrumental interlude.
2. More - 13 chords.
3. Sweet Someone - 10 chords.
4. Blues in the Night - 8 chords.
5. Satin Doll - 14 chords. 
6. Stranger in Paradise - 16 chords.
7. In a Little Hula Heaven - 10 chords.
8. Flying - 9 chords.
9. I Wish You Love - 12 chords.
10. The Look of Love - 15 chords.

November 15. Ukulele Strumming Workshop at Bailey House Museum, Wailuku.

Fifteen people came to the workshop on a rainy Saturday. Fourteen were new, with one returning. One came from Australia, and we later talked about the possibility of us going Down Under to participate in a Ukulele Festival. (Read more) (See photos)

December 17. Ukulele Mele Christmas Party at Kaunoa Senior Center, Spreckelsville. 

Twenty-three past, present, and future ukulele students came Wednesday to the 2nd annual party held at Kaunoa Senior Center. Afterwards, three students joined Rich and I in filming our Christmas greetings for community access TV. (Read more) (See photos)

December 20. Ukulele Strumming Workshop at Bailey House Museum, Wailuku. 

Nine people came to the Saturday workshop during the busy holiday season. Six were totally new ukulele players, and three were current students who take classes at Kaunoa Senior Center. Surprisingly, all were local Maui residents with one person from Oahu who was visiting her family on Maui. (Read more) (See photos)

December 26. Ukulele Mele Workshops at Hilo Hattie store, Oahu.

About 20 people came to the first workshop on Friday, followed by four people to the second workshop. New this time, Rich accompanied us on his u-bass and also took pictures during the workshops. We both were on Oahu primarily to visit family and friends for Christmas. (Read more) (See photos)
