Cecilia Suzuki, Leisure Program Manager, is Mele’s contact at Kaunoa Senior Center and schedules Mele’s classes. We presented Ce with a pink satin lei as a thank you for her help through the years of supporting Mele’s ukulele classes and the Maui Ukulele Pops Band. The occasion was Mele’s announcement that although Advanced Ukulele class (Band practice times) would continue in 2013, we would no longer be seeking out gigs, but evaluating opportunities as they arose. The previous year was very busy with 13 gigs in the community (in addition to classes). Band member Gail Hayashi made the lei in the Band’s color of pink which is also Maui’s color.
