Maui Made Sundays April 2016
The Hawaiian Serenaders performed at Maui Made Sundays at Queen Ka’ahumanu Center in April 2016. The concerts were 2-hour sets from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on center stage for four Sundays (one Sunday was cancelled due to illness). This was a new effort by the shopping center to attract newly arrived cruise ship passengers and local residents.
Here’s the lineup for the 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. event:
9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Vendors sell arts and crafts(Maui Made Fair).
9:00 – 11:00. Keoni Manuel’s Keiki Halau (children dance hula).
11:00 – 1:00 The Hawaiian Serenaders (transition music).
1:00 – 4:00 Gene Argel & Co. (jazz group).
Notable highlights: 1) We engaged the audience with our song introductions and personal stories 2) We invited everyone to sing-along to the last song of each set and 3) Our hula dancers handed out plumeria blossoms to the audience as we sang “There’s No Place Like Hawaii.”
