The Hawaiian Serenaders

The Hawaiian Serenaders, were on the front page of the Sunday paper about the Celebration of Bailey on Saturday, 19 July and published on 20 July 2014. This was a fundraiser for the museum where Mele had been teaching ‘ukulele lessons and workshops. We played Hawaiian and hapa haole music for the occasion, and sang samples from our newly released (especially for this event) CD titled “Hawaiian Songs and Stories.” The album includes 7 old Hawaiian songs (that I used to teach how to play online) with the audio stories about the songs.

Mele Fong is a professional singer, song arranger, and master of multiple strumming styles for the 'ukulele. She is an experienced educator with over 50+ years experience playing the 'ukulele and entertaining worldwide. Mele performs with her husband in the duo "The Hawaiian Serenaders" and leads student groups. In 1996, the duo represented the State of Hawai'i in concert at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. Mele and her husband Richard Tom were both born and raised on Oahu and now reside in Maui.
