Prince Kuhio Day Program

March 26 Prince Kuhio Day program

March 26 Program on Prince Kuhio on the holiday

Discover why there is a state holiday honoring Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalaniana’ole by attending my Oral History and Sing-Along program on Prince Kuhio on Thursday, March 26 from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Bailey House Museum in Wailuku. Participants will learn about the life and contributions of Prince Kuhio, and learn to sing some of the popular Hawaiian songs during his lifetime of 1871-1922. Guitar and ‘ukulele players are invited to bring their instruments or not, in order to focus on singing-along. Admission at the door is $10, or $5 for members of Maui Historical Society. Call 808-244-3326 for information about the Museum.

I will be wearing my Hawaiian history hat, as past historian for the ‘Ahahui Ka’ahumanu, a royal society of Native Hawaiian women. I also teach ‘ukulele lessons at the Museum, and my arrangements of the songs taught during the program are available to learn online and via book/DVD/CD. Call 808-281-4981 or visit my website for related information.
