Picnic for Poki

The Hawaiian Serenaders at Picnic for Poki

The Hawaiian Serenaders were honored to be asked to perform 3 times in 2018-2019 at “Picnic for Poki” held every third Thursday of the month on the grounds of Kaahumanu Church in Wailuku. Roselani Place and Ola Na Mele Productions are co-sponsors of the event. The music used to be broadcast over the radio but that is no longer.

The goal is to continue bringing the spirit of aloha and Hawaiian music to the Maui community in honor of the late Allen “Braddah Poki” Pokipala. Braddah Poki was dedicated to sharing Hawaiian music and culture through various venues in Hawaii.” — Excerpt from Roselani Place June 2018 newsletter.

The Hawaiian Serenaders performed a traditional Hawaiian music show with hula dancers in June 2018 and then a Hawaiian Style Christmas show with hula dancers in December 2018. The organizers received glowing reviews and asked the Serenaders to return in December 2019, and then again in 2020.

NEXT CONCERT: Thursday, December 17, 2020.

The Hawaiian Serenaders performed Mele Kalikimaka at Picnic for Poki at Kaahumanu Church in 2018. Hula dancers from Kaunoa Senior Center joined in. Video filmed by Paradise TV (the Visitor Channel).
