The Maui Ukulele Pops Band returned for the third year to perform at the 34th Annual Upcountry Fair on Sunday 8 June 2014. The Band performed first followed by the Maui Ukulele Jazz Trio. . We remained dressed in our Band informal attire appropriate for the paniolo (Hawaiian cowboy) setting which made it easy to stay on stage after our 45-minute set without changing costumes.
We experienced one snafu during “The Maui Waltz”, when Rich’s chord suddenly flew out of his u-bass so we momentarily didn’t have any bass accompaniment. However, we just kept on playing and then he plugged back in and continued playing. No problem. This was the first year that we plugged Hinano’s ukulele into the sound system so everyone could hear his “fill” parts during the Band show and during our next show. What fun we had!
Eight Band members included Andrea, Ellen, Hinano, Holly, Janet, Kathleen, Linda, and Sandy (plus Mele and Rich).
