December 11

In addition, our Annual Ukulele Mele Christmas Party is scheduled for Wednesday, December 18 from 9 a.m. – noon at Kaunoa. The party is open to all ‘ukulele players and singers and is a great event to make new friends and renew the old as we enjoy playing and singing Hawaiian style Christmas songs the Ukulele Mele Way and more.

During the year we will learn a new curriculum of songs in class every quarter including some songs that are also played during my monthly Sing-Along with Mele Fong series. I will continue to email students my song arrangements with unique ‘ukulele strums and teach how to form ‘ukulele chord shapes with minimal muscle strain taught by no one else. In class we’ll have fun singing and playing music together.

Outside of class, students can listen to and play along with my song arrangements. My husband and I have produced over 100 audio recordings on vocals, ‘ukulele, and u-bass and made them accessible on my website’s Fan Club for free. The songs are listed alphabetically within 4 categories – Hawaiian, hapa haole, pop, and Christmas songs. Each song shows the title, key, number of chords, strum, and the length of the audio recording.

January 2019 marks my 10th year of teaching ‘ukulele classes at Kaunoa. Visit my webpage dedicated to senior classes for more information including links to past events and photo galleries. The journey continues as I pursue my mission to share the joy of making music, one ‘ukulele player at-a-time.

Aloha, Mele Fong aka Ukulele Mele
