We were happy to be asked back to perform at the 6th Annual Maui Ukulele Festival at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center on Sunday 16 October 2011. This was our second show in a row since 2010. New this year we wore our formal band attire and Linda and Janet danced hula once (as shown above).

Nine Maui Ukulele Pops Band members performed three songs from memory (no music stands) during our 10-minute set.

Band: Andrea Kaumeheiwa, Beverly Romias, Eileen Taketa, Janet Rineer, Kelcy Bal, Linda Ewing, and Sandy Magallanes led by The Hawaiian Serenaders – Rich Tom and Mele Fong.

Attire: Band formal pink long muumuu and black kukui nut choker lei for women, black pants/white shirt/pink yarn lei for men for a professional look.

Aloha, Mele Fong aka Ukulele Mele


Mele Fong is a professional singer, song arranger, and master of multiple strumming styles for the 'ukulele. She is an experienced educator with over 50+ years experience playing the 'ukulele and entertaining worldwide. Mele performs with her husband in the duo "The Hawaiian Serenaders" and leads student groups. In 1996, the duo represented the State of Hawai'i in concert at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. Mele and her husband Richard Tom were both born and raised on Oahu and now reside in Maui.
