We were honored to be asked to perform at the 5th Annual Maui Ukulele Festival at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center on Sunday 17 October 2010. This was our first show held on the left side of the main entrance as the Yokouchi Pavilion/A&B Amphitheater was being built.

Eleven Maui Ukulele Pops Band members performed during our 10-minute set.

Band: Andrea Kaumeheiwa, Beverly Romias, Cindee Burkitt, Gail Hayashi, Hinano Kaumeheiwa, Kathleen Figueria, Linda Ewing, Mel Hayashi, and Sandy Magallanes led by The Hawaiian Serenaders – Rich Tom and Mele Fong.

Attire: Band formal long white muumuu for women, black pants/white shirt for men, and all wore golden silk lei for a professional look.

Songs: (Music in binders on stands provided by Kaunoa Senior Center and shared between two people for a consistent look)

Aloha, Mele Fong aka Ukulele Mele


Mele Fong is a professional singer, song arranger, and master of multiple strumming styles for the 'ukulele. She is an experienced educator with over 50+ years experience playing the 'ukulele and entertaining worldwide. Mele performs with her husband in the duo "The Hawaiian Serenaders" and leads student groups. In 1996, the duo represented the State of Hawai'i in concert at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. Mele and her husband Richard Tom were both born and raised on Oahu and now reside in Maui.
