August Summer Sing-Along

Join us for “In the Good Old Summertime”

Do you remember “Sing-Along with Mitch Miller” when the audience would follow the bouncing ball on the screen? Join us Thursday, August 11 for Sing-Along with Mele Fong from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon at Kaunoa Senior Center in Spreckelsville. Instead of the bouncing ball, I use the digital pointer from the remote control that shows up as a red light on the screen. I have found that using PowerPoint as the tool to display words and ‘ukulele chords onto the large screen for audiences works really well. Bring your ‘ukulele to play along as we all sing-along to American songs found in the Great American Songbook and the American Song Treasury.

Click on song titles for audio samples of 2 of the 11 songs we’ll be singing:

  1. Camptown Races – Hum Ding-Ah Strum
  2. Jamaica Farewell – Latin Strum

You can learn to play the two songs above via video lessons available through complete monthly online lessons for advanced players or the Sing-Along Songs, Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 packaged song sets of Book/DVD/CD.

If you schedule private lessons on Maui or by webcam (Skype), then you can learn to play some of the other songs while playing along with the full audio recordings in the online Fan Club.

  1. Take Me Out to the Ball Game – 2 Waltz Strums
  2. When the Saints Go Marching In – Hum Ding-Ah Strum
